Transfer news: Alan Pardew says Newcastle squad is full at present

Alan Pardew says 'the roster is full' at Newcastle and they will need to move players out in order to bring any more in.

Reports suggest that a proven goalscorer remains a top priority for Pardew after overseeing a slow start to the season on the attacking front.

Numerous names, including Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, continue to be linked with moves to St James’ Park before the summer transfer window closes on Monday night.

Pardew admits to still being in the market if the right opportunity presents itself, but he is also aware of the need to free up space in his squad before making late additions.

He said: “I’m going to stay pretty neutral and boring on that subject.

“We still have our fingers very much on the button, on whether there is a transfer which works for us.

“What I would say is the roster is full at our club, which is a problem for us.

“We need to create some room, so there might be one or two that go. Whether there are one or two who arrive we will have to wait and see.”
