Lee Casciaro scored Gibraltar's first ever goal in European qualifying

It will be an afternoon Lee Casciaro will never forget after he scored Gibraltar's first ever competitive goal in their European Qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park.

Shaun Maloney gave Scotland the lead from the spot after 18 minutes but it took just two minutes for the visitors to respond as policeman Casciaro made history, firing past goalkeeper David Marshall to send the visiting fans wild.

However, Scotland hit back through another Maloney penalty before a Steven Naismith strike and a Steven Fletcher hat-trick sent Scotland to a 6-1 victory.

But, despite another heavy defeat, Gibraltar still had something to cheer in Glasgow thanks to Casciaro's historic goal.

The Group D minnows, who have not take a point from their four European Qualifiers so far, thought they'd got their first qualifying goal in the ninth minute when Joseph Chipolia fired a cross goalwards which nearly caught out Marshall at his near post, but the Cardiff City stopper clawed the ball to safety.
