Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings is a player on his radar as a potential January transfer window signing.

Mings, 21, has been linked in the press with a move to the Emirates in January with a fee of £8m being reported.

He (Mings) is one of the players we follow, but we are not close to signing anybody at the moment.

He has been used predominately as a left-back so far in his career but, at 6ft 3ins, like summer signing Calum Chambers could be a centre-back in the making.

Ipswich reportedly turned down a £3m bid from Crystal Palace for Mings over the summer but his price has since risen after signing a new long-term contract tying him to the club until 2017.

Wenger confirmed adding to his defensive options would be a priority in January, when he is expected to have around £20m to spend, but said no deals are set in stone.

Wenger said: "On the defensive front, we will try to bring somebody in, but we are not on any special case.
