Du Plessis: Starts at tighthead prop
South Africa coach Peter de Villiers has made two changes ahead of Saturday's Test against England at Twickenham.
Jannie du Plessis has come straight into the front row in place of brother Bismarck, who injured a hamstring in the Springboks' 14-10 victory against Scotland last weekend.
Danie Rossouw will start at flanker in place of Juan Smith, who has taken a knock to the head and been advised by doctors not to play.
Winger Bryan Habana was doubtful earlier in the week but has been declared fit to start, while Brian Mujati, who has been struggling with a shoulder injury, was named as a replacement.
Du Plessis only arrived with the squad at the weekend after being called into the squad and will start at tighthead prop, with captain John Smit reverting to hooker.
Du Plessis, who also called up late during the World Cup, said: "Luckily, I have been here before.
"I flew on Sunday night and arrived on Monday and went straight into training. We've had a good week and I know most of the guys who are here so it makes it easier to slot in if you've played with them before.
"It's going to be a tough one but that's what playing international rugby is all about.
"It helps a lot if you've played with the guys. It's nice to scrum with John. Like Bismarck, he is big and solid so it makes it easier for guys on both sides to slot in if the hooker knows what to do."
