Ronaldinho and Shevchenko: Milan interest

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed he is keen to bring both Andrei Shevchenko and Ronaldinho to the club this summer.

"I've spoken to Shevchenko and he told me he wants to return to Milan."

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi confirmed earlier in the week that the duo were transfer targets for the Serie A giants, who have endured a difficult season by their stellar standards.

The European champions were dumped out of the competition by Arsenal in the last 16 and they are well off the pace in the title race, with bitter rivals Internazionale currently 20 points ahead at the top of the table.

Chelsea striker Shevchenko has been regularly linked with a return to Giuseppe Meazza where he enjoyed great success, while Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho is expected to leave Barcelona after struggling for form and fitness this term.

Ancelotti claims the Ukraine forward has already expressed an interest in returning to Milan, and dismissed suggestions that he did not want to sign the Rossoneri legend.

Come back

"I've spoken to Shevchenko and he told me he wants to return to Milan," Ancelotti said.

"Probably his son has forgotten Italian and wants to come back.

"It's wrong to say that I don't want Shevchenko, I only said that he has similar attributes to Pato but they could easily play together."

There had been reports that the Milan coach was not keen on securing the services of Ronaldinho due to his supposed lack of discipline off the field.

But Ancelotti said: "I've never had any direct knowledge on those things, so I can't comment.

"It was the same with Ronaldo, who people said wasn't always present but in actual fact he is a great professional with whom I've never had any problems.

"I've never had this type of problem with anyone."
