Bolton boss Gary Megson has conceded defeat in his bid to bring Eidur Gudjohnsen back to the club.

Megson is determined to bring in a new striker before the close of the transfer window as he looks to find a replacement for Nicolas Anelka.

Bolton enquired about bringing Barcelona ace Gudjohnsen back to England, but the versatile forward has decided to stay at Camp Nou.

Replacement

"We need a quality replacement for Nicolas Anelka and Eidur would have fitted the bill but unfortunately he's at a huge football club and he wants to stay there," said Megson.

"Maybe in the summer he would deem it the right time to join Bolton.

"I'll be disappointed if we don't bring in a forward but I won't be worried."
