Newcastle United manager Sam Allardyce believes he will have striker Obafemi Martins available against Manchester United.

It had been expected the Nigeria international would link up with his country for the African Cup of Nations in Ghana following Wednesday's defeat to Manchester City.

However, Allardyce believes the former Internazionale man will be available for selection against The Red Devils next week, although Abdoulaye Faye and Habib Beye will depart after the FA clash with Stoke.

"I think we might have Oba for the Man Utd game," Allardyce told the club's official website. "But the rest will be here for Sunday and after that I think they are away.

"It's a big miss for us, but we knew that at the start of the season, and we've got to deal with it and move forward."

The news of Martins' possible availability comes as a major boost to Allardyce who has admitted he is under immense pressure following the defeat to City.
