Sehwag: back in favour
Virender Sehwag has been recalled as part of a 16-man squad for India's four-Test tour of Australia.
Opening batsman Sehwag lost his place India's last two Test series against England and Pakistan due to poor form.
But a shoulder injury to Gautam Gambhir opened the way for his inclusion in the party to visit Australia, a country in which he excelled on India's previous visit in 2003-04.
The selectors have named five seam bowlers including Irfan Pathan, teenager Ishant Sharma and uncapped prospect Pankaj Singh.
However, Munaf Patel and Shantha Sreesanth, who is lacking match fitness, have been overlooked.
Left-armers Zaheer Khan and Rudra Pratap Singh make up the quintet after overcoming respective ankle and abdomen injuries.
India are scheduled to play four Tests in Melbourne (Dec 26-30), Sydney (Jan 2-6), Perth (Jan 16-20) and Adelaide (Jan 24-28).
India squad Anil Kumble (captain), Wasim Jaffer, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Vangipurappu Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Ishant Sharma, Pankaj Singh, Dinesh Karthik
