Welsh region warn Widnes that star centre is 'going nowhere'

The Ospreys have insisted Gavin Henson is "going nowhere" despite attempts from Widnes to lure the Wales centre to rugby league. Widnes are believed to have pin-pointed Wales centre Henson as the man to help win them a place back in the Super League. However, despite injuries hampering Henson's career in recent years - and a police investigation into an incident on a train - the Ospreys are in no mood to see the precocious talent exit, especially now there are signs he is back to his best. Ospreys director of rugby Kevin Hopkins told The Western Mail: "Gavin is not going anywhere. "He is our player and we are happy with his contribution. We have got a good squad and the last thing we would want to do is reduce the quality of it.

Quality

"This year Gavin has shown how much quality he has got. There is absolutely no doubt he is returning to his best. "Gavin has got a hand injury which is limiting what he can do in training, but I can assure you he will be in top-quality condition when he is passed fit. "It doesn't shock me that there are clubs supposedly interested in Gavin. It was the Scarlets one month, Sale Sharks another and today it is apparently Widnes. "We haven't had a formal approach for him, but, if we did, for any player, we would evaluate it and decide what to do. "The situation with Gavin is he is under contract for a couple more years and we are pleased with him." This is not the first time Widnes have dipped into the reserves of Welsh union talent - with Jonathan Davies, John Devereux and Paul Moriarty having headed north in the 1990s.
