Liam Boyce: Eyeing a move back to the UK after leaving Werder Bremen

Skysports.com understands a number of clubs are chasing Northern Ireland striker Liam Boyce after he secured his release at Werder Bremen.

The highly-rated 20-year-old joined Werder Bremen from Cliftonville for an undisclosed fee last September after scoring 19 goals in his debut season in the Irish League.

Bremen beat a host of clubs to sign Boyce, who is regarded as one of the best young talents to emerge from Northern Ireland in recent years.

Despite being a regular scorer for Werder's Under 23 side, which is the equivalent of their reserves, Boyce was unable to break into Bremen's first-team.

Boyce, who has won four caps for Northern Ireland, has now decided to move on in search of regular first-team football and he has cancelled his contracted with the German outfit.

The news has alerted a number of clubs in England and Scotland to Boyce's availability on a free transfer, with the pacy forward thought to be keen on a move back to the UK.
