The Bristol City defender James Wilson has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract at Ashton Gate.

Wilson, 22, has made 10 appearances for the Robins this season and has performed for the Wales Under-21s.

Despite a number of injury problems, Wilson has battled through the setbacks and is pleased to commit to City, who currently sit bottom of the Championship.

"I've worked very hard for (a new contract) so I'm very pleased," he said.

"It's definitely been a turnaround. It doesn't feel great at the moment because of how the team are doing but (it does) on a personal level."

On overcoming his injury problems, he added: "It's down to hard work.

"There were times when I didn't think I would play again, but hard work and persistence has paid off."
