Oxford have signed young Norwich forward Carlton Morris on a six-month youth loan deal.

The 18-year-old striker played a part in his club's FA Youth Cup success in 2012-13, netting a hat-trick in the quarter-final against Everton, and he is also an England youth international.

Morris signed a two-and-a-half year professional contract with the Canaries in December and his deal keeps him at the Sky Bet League Two club until January 1.

He told the club's website: "It is a great chance for me. I have played all my football at Norwich so far but I am looking forward to testing myself.

"Oxford are a good club and I know they are very ambitious so I want to come here, train hard and play regular, competitive football in a successful side."

Head coach Michael Appleton said: "Carlton had a number of clubs looking at him and I think it speaks volumes for Oxford United that he has chosen to come here when other clubs were chasing his services.

"He is big and strong, technically very good, and he is a decent finisher so we are excited to have him here. We have always said that we will wait until the right player is available, someone we believe will strengthen what we already have, and Carlton fits the bill perfectly.

"We will though continue our efforts to bring in further attacking options before the transfer window closes."
