Anna Carter, head coach of Yorkshire Jets, said:

“Yorkshire Jets are honoured to represent Yorkshire in the UK’s top netball competition and there is no better partner to demonstrate our commitment to the county than Welcome to Yorkshire.

“We support netball across the region – from the school playground to the countless leagues in towns and cities around Yorkshire, and we are excited about the opportunities to spread the word about women’s sport and netball that this new partnership brings.”

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said:

“We are extremely proud to be partnering with Jets for the 2015 season, and with the team’s current crop of talent they have every chance of showing the rest of the country what we’re all about here in Yorkshire.

“Netball is a sport really on the up with participation rising significantly, so it’s great for the county to have a team at the top of their national game.”

Jane Moulson, franchise director of Yorkshire Jets, added:

“Gary and his team at Welcome to Yorkshire have put Yorkshire on the map in recent years with this year’s Tour de France showcasing our passion for sport.  We are delighted to have the support of the organisation.

“Netball is a sport that is growing in popularity and we hope getting more girls and women of any age to take it up, or resume playing, can be one of the lasting legacies of Yorkshire’s Grand Depart.”

The partnership continues Welcome to Yorkshire’s commitment to promoting sport in the county, following a triumphant year in cycling with the county’s hosting of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in July.
