Tommy Hill: Aiming to retain BSB title

Sky Bet

Tommy Hill insists he has not given up on retaining his British Superbikes title heading into the final weekend.

The defending champion is 42 points behind championship leader Shane Byrne in the standings going into the three Showdown rides at his local circuit Brands Hatch this weekend.

John Brookes is just nine points behind Byrne, and Alex Lowes 24 points ahead of what could be a nail-biting finale to the season.

Swan Yamaha rider Hill, sitting in fourth place, said: "We definitely want to go to Brands Hatch and turn things around.

"We have to aim for the triple win as if we do that there is nothing more than we can do.

"I can't think about the championship, I just need to try and win all three races and then anything can still happen.

"If it does then I need to be in a position to pick up the pieces. This is my job and throughout my career I have had ups and downs, possibly more than most, but the instinct is to fight back and we want to end the season on top with wins.

"I have come back before and we need to do it again now."
