Jakub Smrz: On pole at Silverstone
Ducati rider Jakub Smrz took his second pole of the season during a treacherous Superpole session at Silverstone.
The great British summer continued at the Northamptonshire venue, the session declared wet and split into two 20 minute sessions, with the top eight progressing to the second part.
The Czech rider will line up on pole for both races alongside Suzuki's British rider Leon Camier, Ducati's Sylvain Guintoli and Britain's BMW rider Leon Haslam on the front row.
Davide Giugliano, Carlos Checa and Tom Sykes all crashed out of the session and will line up on the second row of the grid in fifth, seventh and eighth respectively. Marco Melandri completed the row in sixth.
The other British riders went out in the first part of the Superpole session, Jonathan Rea lining up 10th for Honda and Chaz Davies 16th for Aprilia. Irishman Eugene Laverty was 14th quickest.
