Max Biaggi and Marco Melandri shared the wins at the Spanish round of the World Superbike Championship at Motorland Aragon.

Aprillia rider Biaggi took the day's opening victory by just 0.278 from Melandri, as the pair pulled away from the chasing pack and at the line were comfortably clear of third placed Carlos Checa.

It was a disappointing race for Tom Sykes however, who got caught up in Ayrton Badovini's race one accident and slips to fifth in the standings.

Race two was even tighter with less than half a second covering the top four riders as Melandri led home Eugene Laverty, Chaz Davies and Biaggi. The result gave Davies his first ever World Superbike podium.

Biaggi leads the championship on 248.5 points, ahead of Melandri on 200.5 and Jonathon Rea on 183.
