Rubens Barrichello: Impressed on KV Racing test
Rubens Barrichello says his move to IndyCar depends on finding sponsors - despite the Brazilian having 19 years of Formula One experience.
The 39-year-old had a successful test for KV Racing after being dropped by Williams F1 in favour of Bruno Senna.
Like many of his colleagues, Barrichello is finding that drives are dependent on funding and concedes he may be forced to just race on road and street circuits - despite wanting the challenge of driving on an oval.
The Brazilian said: "The car was available for someone who arrived with the cash to race.
"It's still unknown if it's going to happen. You have to remember that it all happened in the last minute. There are still minor details that need to be resolved."
Despite all the slots on the 2012 seemingly filled, Barrichello also admitted in an interview with SporTV that he hasn't completely closed the door on F1 and still hopes "the phone will ring" with an invitation to drive for a record 20th season.
