Jessica Ennis-Hill is targeting qualification for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games after confirming she will make her heptathlon comeback at the Hypo-Meeting in Gotzis at the end of the month.

Ennis-Hill stepped up her return to action at the Loughborough International meeting last weekend, finishing third in the long jump and sixth in the javelin at the Paula Radcliffe Stadium.

The Olympic champion, who had been struggling with an Achilles problem after competing at the Great City Games in Manchester earlier this month, has to score 6200 points to be eligible to compete for Team GB in Brazil next year.

And the 29-year-old hopes to go some way to achieving that in Gotzis, Austria, on May 30-31, insisting she feels good after her track outing.

“After competing in Loughborough at the weekend I felt pretty good the next day and my Achilles felt fine which is brilliant,” Ennis Hill said.

“The results I have had at the competitions over the past few weeks are promising and we believe it is feasible for me to do a full heptathlon and achieve the level of points I need to qualify for Rio.

“If I can achieve this early in the season it removes a real pressure, and all the indicators are looking positive, so I plan to go to Gotzis and give it my best shot."

Her coach Toni Minichiello said: "Having come through the weekend’s competition without any issues from a physical point of view - and for Jess to actually feel good - I am feeling positive about her being in a position to achieve the qualification for the Olympics in Gotzis."
