Nottingham have named Commonwealth Games gold medallist Chris Adcock as their captain for the new National Badminton League.

The NBL gets underway on 6 October with the East Midlands team having to wait another month to get their campaign underway at home to Milton Keynes on 3 November.

Adcock cannot wait to get started and believes that the league can go a long way to helping to change the way the sport is perceived by the British public.

“I am thrilled to be announced as Nottingham’s captain for the NBL," he said. "It is such a privilege to be a part of this great new league which I am hoping really changes the way people see our sport.

“The league will be fresh and innovative and it has been a long time coming. As players, we can’t wait for the new challenge."

Having won the mixed-doubles gold in Glasgow alongside his wife, Gabby, in August, Adcock is now looking forward to his latest challenge and hoping for plenty of support from the Nottingham locals.
