Published April 8, 2013:
John Cena was left devastated at the culmination of WrestleMania 28 after being pinned by The Rock.
But the Massachusetts grappler plucked the redemption he was looking for at WrestleMania 29 when he defeated the Great One and captured the WWE Title for an 11th time.
Cena and Rock main-evented the 'Showcase of the Immortals' at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium in front of 80,676 fans and engaged in an eye-catching match-up that lasted just shy of 25 minutes.
Both competitors kicked out of a slew of their opponent's finishing manoeuvres, but Cena - who won the 2013 Royal Rumble to earn his 'Mania showdown - eventually prevailed by dodging a Rock Bottom, administering an Attitude Adjustment and recording the three count.
There has been plenty of tension between Cena and The Rock since they first interacted on Raw in 2011, but they shook hands and shared heartfelt words following the former's WrestleMania victory.
There was no such embrace between Triple H and Brock Lesnar at the end of their epic 'No Holds Barred' clash at the 'Show of Shows', which The Game won to keep his storied career intact.
The Cerebral Assassin was floored by a catalogue of Lesnar's powerful throws early on in the bout, while he, and ringside support, Shawn Michaels, were also hit with the Anomaly's patented F-5.
Triple H, however, battled his way back into the brutal brawl, even using the Beast's strength-sapping Kimura Lock, the move that broke his arm at SummerSlam, against him.
And he triumphed by smacking Lesnar's head into the steel ring steps with a Pedigree and garnering the pinfall - after Michaels had given Paul Heyman a dose of Sweet Chin Music.
Heyman's other charge, CM Punk, was also unable to seize victory, with the former WWE Champion being downed by The Undertaker as the Phenom took his streak at WrestleMania to 21-0.
The Second City Saint tried everything in his quest to vanquish the Deadman and looked like he may prevail when he cracked Undertaker over the head with Paul Bearer's iconic urn, but Punk was ultimately conquered by the Tombstone Piledriver.
Elsewhere, Alberto Del Rio beat Jack Swagger to retain the World Heavyweight Championship; Team Hell No maintained their grip on the WWE Tag Team Titles by defeating Dolph Ziggler and Big E Langston; and Fandango bested Chris Jericho in his debut WWE match.
The Shield knocked off Randy Orton, Sheamus and Big Show in six-man tag action, which resulted in the World's Largest Athlete knocking out his partners; and Mark Henry edged Ryback - before being levelled by a bone-shattering Shell Shocked post-bout.
