The Chicago Blackhawks overcame a blown lead, fatigue and a disallowed headed goal to edge the Anaheim Ducks 3-2 in an exhausting triple overtime Game Two encounter to tie up their Western Conference Final.

Andrew Shaw and Marian Hossa scored power-play goals in the opening minutes of the game at Anaheim's Honda Center before Andrew Cogliano and Corey Perry countered for the Ducks, who entered the contest having won nine of their first 10 post-season games..

Chicago then played nearly 110 consecutive scoreless minutes in the longest game in the Blackhawks' 89-year history before Swedish centre Marcus Kruger tipped in the game-winner at 16:12 of the third overtime period to tie up the series at 1-1.

Shaw had earlier attempted to end it during a powerplay in second overtime by knocking a rebound into the net with his head but the goal was disallowed.

Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford made 60 saves on a marathon night that saw Anaheim netminder Frederik Andersen also make 53 stops.

Game Three will be played on Thursday night in Chicago.
