The New York Rangers beat the Anaheim Ducks 7-2 to move into a three-way tie for the overall NHL lead.
Derek Stepan scored two goals and claimed an assist to help put Rangers level at the top on 99 points alongside Anaheim and the Montreal Canadiens.
Stepan, who was without any points in his previous 12 games, scored a goal in each of the first two periods.
Chris Kreider, Carl Hagelin, JT Miller, Jesper Fast and Derick Brassard also scored for Rangers, who have played three games fewer than the Ducks and two games fewer than the Canadiens.
Corey Perry scored both goals in the first period for Anaheim, whose run of four consecutive wins was ended.
The St Louis Blues are two points adrift of the top three after a 2-1 overtime loss at the Detroit Red Wings, while the Tampa Bay Lightning moved level on points with the Blues by beating Boston Bruins 5-3.
Detroit's Justin Abdelkader scored a power-play goal just 24 seconds into overtime to give the Red Wings victory over St Louis.
And Tampa Bay ended a 10-game losing streak against Boston, with JT Brown and Anton Stralman scoring 15 seconds apart.
Meanwhile, Vancouver Canucks went ahead with 3:13 left to play as a Alexander Edler shot glanced off the post and bounced off goaltender Mike Smith's back in a 3-1 win over Arizona Coyotes.
