Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby has joined team-mate Evgeni Malkin in missing Sunday's NHL All-Star game because of injury.

Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford announced that Crosby will miss the game after suffering a lower-body injury.

Crosby has been playing with the injury but has been given a week off to allow the injury to heal - missing the All-Star Game means he will not be allowed to play on Tuesday against Winnipeg.

Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg has been added as a replacement for Malkin making him the only rookie in the lineup.

Malkin was injured during the second period against Philadelphia but returned and finished the game. However, he was unable to play on Wednesday against Chicago.

Forsberg leads the Predators and all rookies with 40 points through 45 games, and he is third overall in the NHL with plus-24.

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky will also miss the All-Star game after being injured in the 4-0 loss to Winnipeg and the Russian will be replaced by St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott.
