LeBron James has now moved past childhood hero Allen Iverson into 22nd place on the career scoring list, after scoring 18 points against an inept New York Knicks on Sunday.

The Cavs star's average is 26.0 points per game this season, third in the league behind James Harden (27.2) and Russell Westbrook (26.2). The 18 points James scored against the Knicks put his career total at 24,383, just 122 behind the next highest on the list, Ray Allen.

James and Kyrie Irving both scored 18 points, while J.R. Smith had 17 and hooked up with Iman Shumpert for a dazzling dunk in their return to New York as the Cleveland Cavaliers crushed the Knicks 101-83.

Cleveland won for the 16th time in 18 games and got good performances from the recently acquired Smith and Shumpert and have helped solidify a team that was still below .500 shortly after the trade. The Cavaliers are now 35-22 and have been in fine form since returning from the All-Star break, hammering Washington by 38 on Friday and leading this one by 30.

Shumpert came off the bench for four points, five rebounds and seven assists, one of them when Smith jumped to catch his lob pass and slammed it down with his back to the basket.

Warriors lose without Curry

Rodney Stuckey scored 30 points to help the Indiana Pacers beat the NBA-leading Golden State Warriors 104-98.

The Warriors played without injured guard Stephen Curry for the first time this season and despite guard Klay Thompson scoring 39 points for Golden State they still slumped to their 10th defeat of the season.
