All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge has postponed planned surgery on an injured left thumb and will continue playing, Portland Trail Blazers announced on Saturday.

Aldridge was expected to be out of action for between six and eight weeks after the Trail Blazers said he would undergo an operation on a torn ligament.

The 29-year-old has been in great form for Portland this season, averaging 23.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.

Aldridge was injured in Monday's victory over Sacramento when he collided with DeMarcus Cousins and subsequently missed Wednesday's loss to Phoenix.
