Louis Oosthuizen: Found water at the 12th but did little else wrong
Louis Oosthuizen looks poised for another big week at Augusta after firing an opening round of 69 at the Masters.
The South African, who appeared all set to win the Green Jacket two years ago before being pipped by Bubba Watson in a play-off, had six birdies and three bogeys to reach three under par.
He dropped a shot at the first but was quickly in the red and after finding Rae's Creek at the 12th recovered to close with a fine birdie.
"I did well today by not short-siding myself, apart from the first, but the rest was pretty good," he said.
"I just wanted to give myself putts for birdies and the greens were quite slick today.
"At 17 I talked myself out of the first putt and it was probably the only mistake I made in the last few holes.
"I putted really well, inside 10 feet I was pretty good and there were some slick ones. I'm still getting used to coming to Augusta and learning to read those fast putts."
