The first Masters I watched was '87. I remember I got to stay home that morning from school. '96 was very hard to watch. So many people I knew by that point were close with Greg. Everyone was devastated. We all really felt for Greg. I guess the one thing I took from all that was he came in and he spoke to the press and I think we all learned he carried himself like a real champion and that's why we all loved Greg.
- Scott on some of his Masters memories.
Actually it is my first time in the media center here in Augusta and that's a little disappointing considering I've been here five years (actually six!). It's nice to be back here and obviously I'm feeling pretty good coming here after a win last week in Houston. The first year was good; I played well. Maybe I didn't know what I was getting into. But I think probably after that, I played a little too defensive around here and worried too much about the results of bad shots.
- Scott, speaking in 2007, is glad to finally get a bit of attention at Augusta although he admits that since a good debut he's been a disappointment.
I actually was staying at his house one year when he was playing in the tournament before I was in it. You know, I look back on the practice round I played with him here as one of my fondest memories of the game; for me to be out here playing with my hero and everything that I had watched on television of Greg Norman at Augusta was pretty special. You know, he pointed out little nuances of the golf course and ways to tackle holes.
- Scott on taking advice from Greg Norman.
Last year (2010) I kind of started feeling comfortable here. I played so well tee to green last year and struggled on the greens still, but I'm putting well at the moment and that makes up for a lot of that coming here. Also, the course played very hard for most of the years I've been here and a lot of guys were over par.
- Scott on finally turning the corner at Augusta after a string of poor performances.
It was my first time in that atmosphere, that late on a Sunday here and it was fantastic. I enjoyed the day immensely. It was a lot of fun playing the back nine in that position.
- 2011 - Scott on the thrill of finally contending at Augusta.
