Tiger Woods: A four-time winner of The Masters but hasn't triumphed since 2005.

Jack Nicklaus' assertion that Woods could win more Green Jackets than he and Arnold Palmer combined (6+4=10) looks a remote possibility now that Tiger's Masters wins seem to have dried up (he's managed just one in the last nine years).

Fact Box

  • Tiger has averaged 70.56 per round in his Masters career. That's better than any player who has appeared in five or more during that period.
  • Tiger shot 48 for nine holes at age 3 and putted against Bob Hope on the "Mike Douglas Show" at age 2.
  • Only Jack Nicklaus (15) has scored more top five finishes at Augusta than Tiger Woods (10).

The claim came after Woods won his first in startling fashion in 1997 when storming to an amazing 12-shot victory and a record-breaking total of 18-under.

The most recent win came in 2005 when he defeated Chris DiMarco in a play-off, having holed THAT chip shot on the 16th when seemingly struggling.

Since then he's not been out of the first six, including a tied fourth last year, but victory has eluded him and he hasn't won any major since battling through the pain to win the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines.

Debate has raged over whether Woods will ever recapture his dominance and a win - his first anywhere since 2009 - in a limited field in the non-official Chevron World Challenge at the end of 2011 did little to silence the doubters.

Tiger continued to split opinion at the start of 2012 but seriously raised excitement levels by producing the lowest final round of his PGA Tour career, a 62, when finishing tied second behind winner Rory McIlroy at the Honda Classic in Florida.

And despite limping out of the following week's WGC-Cadillac Championship with an Achilles problem, Woods finally posted his first PGA Tour win for 30 months by capturing the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in his final warm-up event for Augusta.

That five-shot victory, the 72nd of his PGA Tour career, also lifted him up to world number six and many experts now believe Tiger's renaissance will be completed by a fifth Green Jacket.

Would you now dare back against him?
