Pakistan win by 25 runs

Zimbabwe vs Pakistan

Ahmed Shehzad blasts 70 to help Pakistan past Zimbabwe in first T20i

Pakistan got the better of Zimbabwe at Harare

Ahmed Shehzad blasted 70 to help Pakistan overcome Zimbabwe by 25 runs in their Twenty20 international at Harare Sports Club.

Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to field but their bowlers were soon under pressure from Shehzad, who opened the batting for the visitors with great gusto.

Tendai Chatara struck twice early on but Shehzad quickly found support from Anwar Maqsood (23) and Twenty20 specialist Shahid Afridi (21no), who smashed three sixes between them.

Hamilton Masakadza eventually ended Shehzad's stay after 50 balls faced, but another late flurry from Afridi saw Pakistan post a solid 161-5 from their 20 overs.

Masakadza (18) was first to fall as Zimbabwe set about chasing the target down - trapped lbw by Anwar Ali - but Vusi Sibanda and Brendan Taylor kept them in the game with scores of 31 and 32no respectively.

Ultimately, though, the spin of Afridi ensured Zimbabwe fell well short of victory - the veteran's three wickets helping restrict them to 136-5.
