Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh by 69 runs

Hamilton Masakadza scored his maiden one-day international century as Zimbabwe claimed a 69-run victory over Bangladesh in Bulawayo.

Masakadza shared a 142-run, fourth-wicket alliance with Brendan Taylor as the hosts piled up 323-7 after being asked to bat in the third one-dayer.

The pair came together at 60-3 after Bangladesh seamer Mahbubul Alam (2-84) had removed both openers, Vusi Sibanda (0) and Mark Vermeulen (11), with the new ball and Charles Coventry (22) was run out.

Masakadza reached his hundred off 110 balls, including four fours and two sixes, before being bowled for 102 playing across the line at left-arm seamer Syed Rasel (1-59).

Taylor and Elton Chigumbura (61no) rammed home Zimbabwe's advantage by adding a quickfire 90 for the fifth wicket, although Taylor - dropped in the deep by Enamul Haque Jnr on 57 - missed out on a century when he was run out for 94.

Bangladesh's run chase never recovered from losing their top three - Tamim Iqbal (0), Naeem Islam (4) and Mohammad Ashraful (9) - inside the first five overs.

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan (17) followed in the eighth over as the visitors slipped to 39-4, Tawanda Mupariwa (3-32) and Chigumbura (2-46) sharing the wickets.

Raqibul Hasan (78) and Mahbubul (59) both made defiant half-centuries but Bangladesh were never in contention and eventually slipped to 254 all out in 44.2 overs.

The result reduces Bangladesh's lead to 2-1 in the five-match series, which continues in Bulawayo on Sunday.
