Yorks vs Surrey

County Championship: Gary Keedy takes 7-99 as Yorkshire and Surrey draw

Gary Keedy: Took seven wicket's in Yorkshire's second innings

Liam Plunkett: Hit 68 to snuff out any hopes of a Surrey win

Gary Keedy returned his best figures in almost three years but could not prevent Surrey's LV= County Championship clash with Yorkshire from ending in a draw.

The veteran left-arm spinner took 7-99 as the hosts were bowled out for 254 on the final day of the contest at Headingley.

When Yorkshire slipped to 160-6 in the early stages of the afternoon session it looked as though Surrey, who were 240 behind at that point, may have been able to mount a late charge for victory.

But Liam Plunkett made a crucial 68 late in the innings to make sure of the draw, with Surrey taking nine points to Yorkshire's eight.

Yorkshire started the morning session on 52-1 and they had made their way to 76 by the time Adam Lyth played on for 32 as he attempted to sweep Keedy.

Keedy then had Andrew Gale caught at square-leg on the sweep and debutant Jack Leaning caught at slip, both for ducks in the space of three balls in the 34th over to leave the score at 86-4.

Joe Sayers made 24 before he was also dismissed by Keedy, before Adil Rashid (45) dominated a sixth-wicket stand of 46 with Andrew Hodd.

Hodd was later trapped lbw by Tim Linley before Ryan Sidebottom edged Keedy to slip to leave Yorkshire at 209-8 in the 74th over, by which time a draw was a near certainty.

Plunkett was the last man out, stumped by Steven Davies off the bowling of Keedy, and Surrey then batted for two overs before the players shook hands.
