Jones: a glimpse of better times ahead?

Friends Provident Trophy - South/West Division
New Road
Hampshire 209 (G A Lamb 84, S P Jones 5-32) v Worcestershire 211-1 (V S Solanki 81, S M Davies 76 no)
Worcestershire beat Hampshire by 9 wkts

Simon Jones took five wickets before Worcestershire Royals made light work of chasing a target of 210 for a nine-wicket success against Hampshire Hawks in the FP Trophy.

Vikram Solanki smashed 81 from 59 balls while sharing an opening stand of 160 with Steven Davies.

After Solanki was caught by Liam Dawson off the bowling of Billy Taylor (1-43), Moeen Ali (42no) joined Davies (76no) to see the Royals home with 22.3 overs to spare.

Earlier, former England paceman Jones shook off the frustration of an injury-plagued three years to claim 5-32 - his career best figures in one-day cricket - and help bowl out Hampshire for 209.

Greg Lamb's 84 was the only contribution of note as the Hawks were all out two overs short of using their full allocation.
