W Indies vs Zimbabwe

West Indies v Zimbabwe, 2nd T20: Kieron Pollard and Samuel Badree star in Antigua cruise

Kieron Pollard: Crashed 45 not out off just 24 balls

Samuel Badree: Career-best figures of 3-17

West Indies maintained their dominance over Zimbabwe with a 41-run victory in the second and final Twenty20 international at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

After an eight-wicket triumph at the same venue the previous day, world champions West Indies made it back-to-back wins on Sunday to clinch the two-match series 2-0.

Zimbabwe, who lost the preceding one-day series 3-0, will look to restore some pride in the two Tests that are coming up, starting in Barbados on March 12.

Brendon Taylor's men would have fancied their chances of squaring the T20 series at the halfway stage after restricting West Indies to just 158-7.

Kieron Pollard bludgeoned an unbeaten 46 off just 24 deliveries, sharing a 56-run fifth-wicket partnership with captain Darren Sammy, who added a breezy 19.

Lendl Simmons, who blazed an unbeaten 63 on Saturday, made 41 at the top of the order, however Zimbabwe kept their opponents in check with wickets at regular intervals.

Sammy opened the bowling with spin in the form of Samuel Badree and the leg-spinner vindicated his captain's decision with a superb four-over spell which put Zimbabwe firmly on the back foot.

The Trinidadian claimed the wickets of Chamu Chibhabha, Vusi Sibanda, and Taylor in successive overs as the visitors crashed to 33-3 in the eighth.

Badree finished with career-best figures 3-17 from his four overs and despite a lively half-century from Hamilton Masakadza (53), Zimbabwe never threatened a first win on tour.
