W Indies vs S Africa
SA win by 66 runs (D/L)
A convincing victory for South Africa, who were in control right from the beginning. Hundreds for Amla and de Villiers set up a very good score, and as usual no-one stood up for West Indies in the chase. Worrying signs that a very one-sided tour awaits. Thanks for following us, and do join us again for the second one-dayer on Tuesday. Cheers.
Over 45 Tostsobe W
215 all out - WICKET! Rampaul tries to hit over mid-on, skies the ball in the air and Smith runs around to take the catch and end the match.
Over 44 McLaren 0-1-0-1-0-1
215-9 - Just three singles from McLaren's penultimate over as West Indies reduce the margin of defeat. There are four overs left for them to play with.
Over 43 Botha 0-W-0-0-1-6
212-9 - WICKET! Ridiculous scenes here, as Botha basically asks long and hard enough for the umpire to give Taylor out. Taylor bizarrely didn't offer a shot to one which he though was sliding down the legside, and the ball hit him on the pad in front of leg stump. Hawkeye shows it was missing leg stump, but Botha appealed as long as possible and eventually convinced Norman Malcolm. Ravi Rampaul manages a single, and Miller slaps the final delivery over cow corner for six.
Over 42 McLaren 1-1-W-0-0-2
205-8 - WICKET! The match edges closer towards its inevitable conclusion as Sammy whips one straight down Kallis' throat at deep midwicket. Miller lobs the final delivery over extra cover for a couple, but this match is so obviously over.
Over 41 Steyn 2-0-0-0-0-
201-7 - Steyn is running in and bowling at pace now as South Africa look to wrap this up as quickly as possible. Miller clips through midwicket for a couple, but is comprehensively beaten several times in the remainder of the over. That's the end of the batting powerplay.
Over 40 Morkel 4-W-1-0-0-1
199-7 - WICKET! Morkel replaces McLaren, but starts with a short ball and is pulled away for four by Pollard. However West Indies' resistance ends the next ball when Pollard takes on long-on and is caught on the boundary by McLaren. Nikita Miller gets off the mark with an inside edge past his stumps for a single.
Over 39 Steyn 1-0-W-0-wd-0-0
193-6 - WICKET! That was an ordinary over from McLaren, but Steyn doesn't make the same mistake and he picks up the wicket of Ramdin. The wicketkeeper-batsman had been struggling, and now he chops on as he gives himself room to try and cut. That brings Darren Sammy to the wicket, and he'll be looking to make amends for his poor bowling earlier today.
Over 38 McLaren 4-4-2-4-1-0
191-5 - Just the over West Indies needed, and in a flash the fifty partnership comes up from 51 balls. McLaren is asked to bowl the powerplay over and starts with a low full toss which Pollard whips to the square leg boundary. Then he drives through point for four, clips to midwicket for two and dabs past the keeper for four more. Fifteen from the over in total gives West Indies a bit of hope.
Nothing's really going for West Indies, so Pollard calls for the batting powerplay. They have four overs to turn this match around.
Over 37 Morkel 0-4-1-1-1-0
176-5 - That's more like it - Pollard stands and delivers and butchers four straight down the ground. The he takes on midwicket but loses one hand's grip on the bat and so Amla is able to get round and restrict him to a single. Ramdin is hit on the finger by a Morkel lifter, and will need some medical attention.
Over 36 McLaren 0-0-0-1-0-0
169-5 - McLaren returns, and nearly has Pollard caught at fine leg as a top edge flies towards Morkel but lands just short. West Indies are digging themselves a rather deep hole here. The required run rate is now more than nine per over.
Over 35 Morkel 0-1-0-wd-1-4-0
168-5 - Frustration for Morkel and de Villiers, as Ramdin edges one down the legside and de Villiers misses it. The ball swung back a touch after passing the batsman, and de Villiers was heading down leg and failed to adjust.
Over 34 Steyn 0-0-0-1-wd-2-6
161-5 - Ramdin guides the ball down to third man, and Pollard does likewise and scampers back for a second. Then he shows just what he is capable of, bulldozing the final delivery into the upper tier at long-on. That was monstrous.
Over 33 Botha 0-0-0-0-1-1
151-5 - Botha continues, so it looks like he'll bowl his full ten-over complement on the trot. Pollard can only dab a single to short third man and Ramdin eases the final ball into the offside for one. West Indies need 131 runs to win from 90 balls.
Over 32 Steyn 0-1-0-2-0-3
149-5 - Steyn returns for a burst, so it was just the one over that Morkel got. Of course Steyn and Pollard had a little tiff in the last T20 when Pollard barged the fast bowler, so both will be eager to make a point. Steyn sends down a couple of quality inswinging yorkers, but Pollard is equal to the challenge.
Over 31 Botha 1-0-0-1-0-0
143-5 - The required run rate is above eight per over now, but in Pollard the West Indies have someone who can combat that. He'll take a few overs to get his eye in. South Africa are definitely behind the over rate so Botha bowls off two steps and concedes a couple of singles.
Over 30 Morkel W-0-0-0-0-1
141-5 - WICKET! Morkel returns after the drinks break, and immediately Sarwan plays on as he tries to guide the ball down to third man. Sarwan has batted far too slowly but hopefully his 38 will give him some confidence heading into a long tour by South Africa because he will be crucial to making the Test in particular competitive. Pollard angles the final ball down to fine leg for a single to keep the strike.
Over 29 Botha 1-1-0-1-4-0
140-4 - Botha lofts one up outside off stump and tempts Ramdin into a drive, and he gets an outside edge just past de Villiers. There's no slip, so the ball runs away for four. The camera focuses in on Boucher on the sidelines but I don't think many keepers in history would have taken that. The umpires call for drinks, and I suspect South Africa are behind the over rate.
Over 28 Tsotsobe 0-1-0-1lb-0-0
133-4 - Time is ticking away here - remember West Indies only have 48 overs to score 282 because of D/L intervention - and there's little sign of intent from Sarwan. Tsotsobe strays onto his pads but de Villiers does brilliantly to scamper across and cut the ball off after Sarwan gets a bit of pad on it.
