Warwickshire are still waiting for a first win in this season's Yorkshire Bank 40 after their Group A match against Sussex at Edgbaston was washed out without a ball being bowled.
The washout followed a one-run defeat against Kent in their opening match last week but last year's beaten finalists may be the happier with the point from a no result.
Injuries and international calls had deprived them of 11 players and reduced them to a threadbare squad which would have meant a competitive debut for pace bowler Recordo Gordon had play been possible.
The covers went on at Edgbaston an hour before the scheduled start and the rain became heavier during the afternoon, leading umpires Rob Bailey and Steve Gale to take the decision to abandon the match after a pitch inspection at 4.45pm.
It is a second successive wasted visit to Edgbaston in this competition for Sussex who also suffered a washout in a scheduled day/night contest last July.
