Melbourne Stars made it two wins from two in the Big Bash League following a 77-run victory over Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Sunday.
The Stars batted first and set a daunting 200-5 thanks to notable contributions from David Hussey (50no), Glenn Maxwell 37 and Matthew Wade 36.
English opener Luke Wright blasted 28 from 17 deliveries before he was stumped by Daniel Smith from the bowling of Steve O'Keefe with the score on 37.
Cameron White (9) soon followed after being bowled by Josh Hazlewood, who finished with decent figures of 3-20 from his four overs.
Brad Hodge came and went without troubling the scoring, but Wade and Hussey were able to anchor the innings prior to Ravi Bopara bowling Wade.
Maxwell ensured the Stars finished on the front foot after he blasted two sixes and three fours as he contributed an invaluable 37 runs at the end.
The Sixers made a lively response in Sydney with Michael Lumb scoring 29 from 19 deliveries as he atoned somewhat for an indifferent spell in the field.
Nic Maddinson hit three fours as he added 18 runs, but Bopara came and went quickly with five from 10 deliveries before being caught behind off the bowling of Clint McKay.
Once Marcus North went for 23 the game was up for the Sixers as their run rate fell significantly way behind what was required.
Moises Henriques was the only other Sixers batter to make a game-worthy contribution with 17 from 15 as the home side were only mustered 123-9.
