Surrey beat Sussex by 5 wkts

Surrey kept their Twenty20 Cup qualification hopes alive and all but ended Sussex's in the process as the Brown Caps won by five wickets at The Brit Oval.

Opener Chris Nash blazed 52 off 41 balls for the Sharks, but Surrey bit back and reduced their South Coast opponents to a meagre 141-5 off their 20 over allocation.

Young off-spinner Matthew Spriegel (2-16) was the pick of the Surrey bowlers, with all-rounder Abdul Razzaq (2-23) also starring with the ball.

The Brown Caps' run chase struggled to gather momentum after West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Smith had dismissed openers Scott Newman (21) and James Benning (7) and the explosive Ali Brown for 13.

However, it was the powerful hitting of Razzaq who came in at number seven and smashed 39 off 20 balls that ensured Surrey surpassed their target with 12 balls to spare.
