Sri Lanka win by 78 runs

So a convincing win for the hosts who pull one back in the five match series which sits at 2-1 to the Aussies with two to play. Sri Lanka had their opening pair of Tillakaratne Dilshan (55) and Upul Tharanga (111) to thank for a solid start before their middle order fell apart somewhat, but they still reached a competitive 286 for nine. In their chase Australia were then undone by an allround impressive bowling display from the home side, Lasith Malinga finishing with the glossy figures of five for 28 - his best figures yet against the Aussies. Thanks for joining us today, and the series now moves to Colombo for the final two games.

    Over 45 Malinga 4b-W

208 all out - Malinga misses with the first - and it runs away for four byes. BOWLED! He hits with the seond though as Bollinger's middle stump is uprooted, and that's five for Malinga! Game done!

    Over 44 A Mendis 1-0-1-1-2-1

204-9 - The end is neigh, but not quite yet Bollinger pitches up just short of a diving Kulasekara who can't claim the catch.

    Over 43 Malinga 0-0-W-0-0-0

198-9 - BOWLED! Doherty has never faced Malinga before and he's all at sea for the first two deliveries before being cleaned up by a slower ball that's dead on target. Dougie Bollinger is the new man and he's equally baffled but survives three deliveries. The wicket-maiden gives Malinga his best ever figures against Australia.

    Over 42 Kulasekara W-0-1-6-1-1

198-8 - OUT! Johnson tunrs out to Chandimal in front of square on the leg side. Straight forward catch there. Doherty then gets lucky as he's dropped by Dilshan at slip, before Lee roasts a six straight back over the bowler's head!

    Over 41 Malinga W-4-0-0-1-1

189-7 - OUT! And another one goes! Mike Hussey punches a cut straight to Suraj Randiv at point! He's caught for 63 and the batting powerplay is once again doing it's bit for the fielding side. Brett Lee starts with an inside edge past his stumps for four and it's all over now really.

    Over 40 Kulasekara 2-1-1-1-1-W

183-6 - RUN OUT! A collecting of singles and a full toss driven out to cover for two bring six runs from Nuwan Kulasekara's return over, before Steve Smith punches a drive and sets off for the run only for the bowler to gather and shy directly at the stumps. Smith is stranded and has to go for 18!

    Over 39 1-1-0-2wd-0-1lb-2

177-5 - Gee this is tough for the Aussies, as a result of Dilshan getting in his ten overs, he's got his best bowlers in reserve and Lasith Malinga is making life extremely difficult for both batsmen. The batting powerplay is taken but just seven from the over with the rate up to ten.

    Over 38 Eranga 1-1-1-1-1-0

170-5 - Five singles from the over, but that's not really enough with the rate bobbing up towards 10. Great bowling from the debutant meanwhile who is mixing up his pace effectively and has a sharp bouncer in his armoury.

    Over 37 A Mendis 1-2-3lb-1-0-0

165-5 - Steve Smith is totally flummoxed by the turn, and plays down the wrong line but survives an lbw shout thanks to his pad being hit a fraction outside the line. Otherwise Mendis continues to apply to chocke hold with the required rate now over 9.3.

    Over 36 Eranga 0-2-1-1-0-2

158-5 - Eranga is back for his sixth over, and charges in to Smith who flicks through midwicket for two and then miscued a pull into the deep for a couple more. The Aussies need 129 runs from 14 overs.

    Over 35 Dilshan 4-0-1-1-1-1

152-5 - Fifty for Hussey! He charges down the track and lifts Dilshan with the turn over extra cover for four! The Aussies then turn to scratching out singles and fetch eight from the over which is still below the required rate but perhaps the start of something. Great spell from Dilshan, his 10 overs going for just 39 runs.

    Over 34 A Mendis 0-1-0-1-1-0

144-5 - Just a trio of singles, Mendis cranking up the pressure with just three runs from the over. Australia now need nearly nine per over.

    Over 33 Dilshan 1-0-1-1-0-0

141-5 - Steve Smith is the new man, and he's nearly run out immediately without even facing a delivery - having backed up down the track he's saved only by Suraj Randiv's wayward shy and gets an overthrow, plus a single to get off the mark. This is an important knock for Smith who has had limited opportunities of late to show his worth with bat or ball. Dilshan is now through nine overs meanwhile, having conceded just 31 runs.

    Over 32 A Mendis 1-0-1-1-0-W

138-5 - WICKET! Got him, gone, yes! Once again Dilshan has made a bowling change and it's paid off immediately - Dave Hussey chomping the mystery man back onto his stumps! Sri Lanka are bossing this game now.

    Over 31 Dilshan 0-1-0-2-0-0

135-4 - It's up to the Hussey's now, but with part-timer Dilshan having riffled through eight tidy overs already there'll be more room for him to manoeuvre his bowlers. Dave Hussey cuts away for a couple plus a single makes it three runs from the over.

    Over 30 Malinga 1-0-0-wd-4-1-1

132-4 - Mike Hussey hits straight to mid of and sets of for a single and with Dilshan arrowing in a terrific direct hit the Sri Lankans think they've got their man. Hussey though is saved by his dive, with just a fraction of an inch in it. A short ball wide follows beore Dave Hussey crunches an uppish drove through estra cover for four.

    Over 29 Dilshan 0-0-1-0-0-0

124-4 - Tidy little over from Dilshan against the Hussey brothers. Mike swats to long off for one before Dave is tied to three dot balls as he feels his way in.

    Over 28 Malinga 0-0-0-0-W-0

123-4 - OUT! Malinga comes back into the attack and does the job asked of him by his skipper, bringing an end to the 71-run stand between Clarke and Hussey. Having tied the Aussie skipper down for four pacey dot balls, he then found a leading edge which scooped up to Mahela Jayawardene. Clarke's on his way for 46 and that's a massive blow to the Aussies.

    Over 27 Dilshan 1-1-1-0-0-0

123-3 - Dilshan has squeezed six overs out of himself, and almost taken the wicket of Hussey. Were it not for Eranga's clanger, this would have been a top wicket-taking spell from the home captain and part-time spinner.
