S Africa vs Zimbabwe
RESULT: SA WIN BY 45 RUNS
The Zimbabweans have given their neighbours some food for thought with an excellent batting display. Although the Proteas won by 45 runs, Tatenda Taibu's century and Stuart Matsikenyeri's 86 caused them real problems. Do join us again on Tuesday for the second and final game.
Over 50 Morkel 6-0-1-1lb-2-1
250-6 - Albie Morkel is asked to bowl the final over with Taibu looking for a century. Morkel strays and Taibu flicks it over fine leg for six. Just one short of his ton now. He gets the century with a paddle to the on. Brilliant stuff from the keeper. Cremer takes a leg-bye while the centurion gets a couple to fine leg.
Over 49 Steyn 1-1-1-0-0-0
239-6 - This is Steyn's final over. Big question though is if Taibu can get to the three figures with just two overs left. He continues to rotate the strike with new man Graeme Cremer. The lower-order man then struggles to give the strike to his senior partner. Cremer gets it to third man but Taibu refuses the single.
Over 48 McLaren 1-4-1-1-1-W
236-6 - Matsikenyeri gets one to long-on while McLaren's half-volley is cracked through extra cover for four. This has really been incredible batting from these two. WICKET! McLaren finally makes the breakthrough for South Africa. It's full and straight and Matsikenyeri misses and gets bowled.
Over 47 Steyn 0-4-2-0-wd-0-0
228-5 - Taibu deliberately edges it wide of the keeper for four. Will one of these two get to a 100? Next ball is pulled through midwicket for a couple.
Over 46 McLaren 4-1-4-6-1-1
221-5 - McLaren returns, but he is flicked down to long-leg for four by Taibu while Matsikenyeri gets an inside edge down to the boundary. McLaren bowls a bouncer, but Matsikenyeri cuts it over deep backward point for six. Brilliant stuff from these two Zimbabweans.
Over 45 Steyn 4-0-0-1-1-4
204-5 - Steyn comes back into the attack and Matsikenyeri carves him through backward point for four. The boundary brings up the 150-run partnership. A couple more singles bring up the Zim 200. The final ball is sliced wide of point for four.
Over 44 Botha 1-0-1-1-1-1
193-5 - Matsikenyeri gets one to third man while Taibu takes another risky single to mid-on. The wicketkeeper seems to be struggling with an injury. The singles continue to come freely. That's the end of Botha's spell. He finishes 10-1-41-0.
Over 43 Langeveldt 1-0-1-0-2-0
189-5 - It's getting pretty dark in the middle as the storm clouds move across the ground. Taibu works it to square leg. Big appeal from Langeveldt for lbw, but he got an inside edge. Taibu takes a risky single to cover and then comes back for a second following an overthrow.
Over 42 Botha 4-1-1-2-4-4
185-5 - Botha starts his new spell with a full toss and Matsikenyeri smashes it straight down the ground for four. Another full toss, but this time it's just one. The single brings up his half-century. Matsikenyeri walks across his stumps and goes over midwicket for four and then down the ground again for the third boundary of the over.
Over 41 Langeveldt 0-2-1-1-2-0
169-5 - That was close! Taibu lmistimes it over mid-on, but it falls a few metres short of the diving Steyn at long-on. A couple more singles take the partnership to 118 which is the highest partnership for any wicket for Zimbabwe against South Africa.
Over 40 McLaren 1-0-1-1-2-1
163-5 - Matsikenyeri slices it over point. Taibu gives himself room, but misses the ball and then nudges it to square leg for one. McLaren goes short and Taibu pulls over midwicket for a couple.
Over 39 Langeveldt 1-0-6-0-1-1
157-5 - Double bowling change sees Charl Langeveldt back into the attack. Matsikenyeri gets one to the leg-side while Taibu continues to take the attack to the South Africans with a hook over fine leg for six.
Over 38 McLaren 1-0-1-1-0-1
148-5 - Tsotsobe went for a couple in his last over so Graeme Smith decides to bring Ryan McLaren back into the attack. Taibu rotates the strike with Matsikenyeri and his second single brings up his half-century from 71 balls. The final single of the over also brings up the century partnership from 126 balls.
Over 37 Steyn 1-2-1-1-0-0
144-5 - Matsikenyeri takes a quick one down the ground while Taibu's pull ends up over mid-off and he comes back for a second run. This has been a good Powerplay for Zimbabwe. Steyn finishes with a fuller one, followed up by a bouncer.
Over 36 Tsotsobe 6-2-4-1-2-1
140-5 - Taibu clears the left leg and smacks it over midwicket for six. That was a clean hit. He goes again, but it bounces just inside the rope and Amla keeps it down to two. Taibu then decides to take a few steps down the track and goes through square leg for four. Expensive over from Tsotsobe.
Over 35 Steyn 1-1-4-wd-1-1-0
124-5 - The ball has been changed and back into the attack comes Dale Steyn. After a couple of singles, Matsikenyeri gives himself room and goes over extra cover for a boundary. The bowler responds with a wide down the leg side.
Over 34 Tsotsobe 0-1-1-0-4-0
115-5 - Taibu goes for a big heave across the line, but gets a leading edge that falls into no-man's land. Matsikenyeri plays it uppishly to third man, but it falls a couple of metres short of Langveldt. Zim gets a welcome boundary after thick edge flies past of Boucher.
Over 33 Morkel 1-1-0-1-0-1
109-5 - Zimbabwe decide to take their batting Powerplay. Smith opts to keep Morkel on. Matsikenyeri works it to midwicket while Taibu runs a shorter one off the face of the bat down to third man. Tidy stuff from Morkel and it's just the four singles.
Over 32 Tsotsobe 1-0-0-wd-0-0-0
105-5 - Lonwaba Tsotsobo comes back for his second spell. Matsikenyeri works it wide of gully for one. The bowler goes down the leg-side and the umpire signals for the extra. Taibu goes for a huge swing and a miss.
