S Africa vs New Zealand
Over 50 Neesham W
252 - Neesham comes on for the final rites, and hits the off stump with the perfect yorker. That is his first ODI wicket, and gives NZ the victory by 27 runs, and they are now assured of winning their first ever series in South Africa in any format of the game. South Africa again allowed the New Zealanders to compile some runs at the tail-end of the innings, with Man of the Match Williamson's 145 being the backbone of the innings. Still, at 167 for 1 with the run rate perfectly under control, the collapse to 252 was nothing short of astoundingly bad cricket. The NZ fielders equalled the ODI record by claiming five run outs, some of them real schoolboy errors (apologies to schoolboys).
Over 49 Mills 1-0-0-1-0-1
252-9 Mills starts his last over, and a single takes South Africa to 250. He takes one in the shins as Morkel drives back powerfully. Tsotsobe swings the last ball away to the man at long on, and SA need 28 off the final over.
Over 48 McClenaghan 1-1-1-1-1-1
249-9 - McClenaghan is pushed to extra cover, and Tsotsobe can at least celebrate his HIGHEST ODI SCORE, as modest as it may be. Brendon McCullum makes a good stop as Morkel gets an inside edge. Morkel almost contrives to run himself out off the last ball, not grounding his bat and his foot just made contact with the ground. 31 needed off the last 2 overs.
Over 47 Mills 1-W-0-6-1-4
243-9 - Mills has Peterson on the drive, but a mistimed hit is CAUGHT brilliantly by a diving Nathan McCullum. Morkel easily drives one over long on, way back into the crowd. Tsotsobe nicks the last ball for four, and the two tail-enders look confident of adding the 37 needed off 18 balls.
Over 46 Franklin 6-W+1-6-0-0-1
231-8 - Franklin gets caned for six over long off, but a high full toss gets slapped to deep wicket where Guptill whips it in, and Behardien is RUN OUT. Morkel is the new man, and shows his more esteemed colleagues what they should have been doing, pulling his first delivery way over square leg for the maximum before missing the next 2 balls. 49 needed off 24 if SA are to pull off a miraculous win.
Over 45 Mills 1-W-1-0-0-0
217-7 - Mills returns and a rare show of aggression from Behardien brings new batsman Kleinveldt on strike, but becomes the fourth RUN OUT victim. He jabbed his bat into the ground short of the crease and lost it as Guptill's throw came in from mid on. Peterson walks in, and almost walks out just as quickly as Behardien sends him back. A mountain to climb now, 63 needed off 30.
Over 44 Franklin 0-1-0-0-1-W
215-6 - Franklin is in some distress after Behardien drove the third ball straight again, this time into the bowler's left ankle. He is tough and will continue to bowl, almost finding the edge of Behardien's bat this time. He ends the over with a WICKET as McLaren drives on the up and is taken by Guptill at extra cover. With just 4 wickets in hand now, SA still need 65 off 36 balls.
Over 43 N McCullum 1-W-1-0-1-0
213-5 - N McCullum has been tight since his horror opening over, but his is his last. Behardien drives the second ball down the ground, but McCullum touches it onto the stumps and Miller had not grounded his bat in time. That will be the third RUN OUT of the innings. McLaren is the new batsman. McCullum finishes with 1 for 56, of which 17 came in his first over. SA need 67 off 42 balls.
Over 42 Franklin 1-2-1-0-0-1
210-4 - Franklin still stopping the boundaries, thanks to some sharp fielding by Elliott as Behardien mistimes a pull but beats mid on. A good slower ball beats Miller. A good finish to the over makes the task that much more difficult, SA needing 70 off 48 balls now.
Over 41 N McCullum 0-0-1-0-1-1
205-4 - N McCullum does get Miller playing in the air, but it lands well short of the long on fielder. It ends with a risky single, and SA need 75 off the last 54 balls.
Over 40 Franklin 3-0-1-0-1-0
202-4 - Franklin comes back now, but his first ball is drifting down leg and although Mills keeps it down to 3, it is the most productive shot for a while. TWO HUNDRED UP for South Africa. Behardien is tempted into a rash shot and is beaten. The POWERPLAY produced just twenty runs, but South Africa will take some comfort from not being tempted into playing wild shots to exploit the field restrictions.
Over 39 N McCullum 1-0-1-1-0-1
197-4 - N McCullum restricts them to four singles, and the asking rate is up to 7.5.
Over 38 McClenaghan 0-1-0-1-1-0
193-4 - McClenaghan is bowling to his field. The PowerPlay is actually to South Africa's disadvantage, as the fielders are all in the ring as the batsmen play tentatively in an effort to rebuild the innings.
Over 37 N McCullum 0-1-0-1-1-0
190-4 - N McCullum is looking to dart the ball in with very little flight and spin, but the batsmen manage just three singles as the required rate climbs steadily.
Over 36 McClenaghan 0-4-0-0-0-1
187-4 - McClenaghan comes back for the Batting POWERPLAY. New Zealand will not be able to believe their good luck that they have two new batsmen to bowl to, but a misfield at short fine leg gives Behardien a boundary with an uppish flick. A single off a yorker is one of only two scoring shots in that over.
Over 35 N McCullum 1-1-W-0-1-1
182-4 - N McCullum strikes! Ingram is CAUGHT at mid off as he mistimes an off drive and is taken by Watling at mid off. Miller has a lot of work to do, despite having been out of the ODI squad for some time.
Over 34 Franklin 0-0-0-0-0-1
178-3 - Franklin is getting some movement back into Ingram, and even he looks a bit uncertain after that little flurry of wickets. He is beaten on the drive, perhaps for the first time in the innings. The back foot lifted momentarily, but Brendon McCullum, standing up now, juggled the ball. Ingram manages to turn the last ball into a gap to end a sequence of ten dot balls.
Over 33 N McCullum 1-0-0-0-0-0
177-3 - N McCullum bowls a tight over, just the single. There is an old adage 'they are bowling for run outs', and that seems to be the New Zealand game plan at the moment. With Behardien looking jittery, there could be another one any moment - but not in the next five minutes, as the players take drinks.
Over 32 Franklin 1-1-1-W-2-0
176-3 - Franklin goes round the wicket to the first right-hander in the batting order. Another RUN OUT as du Plessis pushes to Nathan McCullum in the covers, who scores a direct hit with an underarm through. It was perhaps tighter than umpire Cloete thought, but it was the correct decision as he makes the decision unaided. Behardien comes to the crease now on debut.
Over 31 N McCullum 0-W+2-1-0-2-1
171-2 - N McCullum strikes in an unexpected manner as Smith is RUN OUT. His long hop is cut to deep point where Franklin makes a good stop. Smith was coming back for the third, but the throw was good and there no need for the TV umpire to get involved. Faf du Plessis is the new batsman.
