Somerset vs Warwicks

Friends Life t20: Warwickshire skittled for 73 in loss to Somerset

Craig Kieswetter: Helped Somerset chase down paltry target with ease

Warwickshire were bowled out for their lowest ever 20-over total of 73 as Somerset claimed a 10-wicket victory in their Friends Life t20 clash at Taunton.

Warwickshire had never previously been dismissed for fewer than three figures in the shortest form of the game, but were bowled out inside 17 overs by the hosts as Yasir Arafat took 4-5.

And Somerset chased down the total with consummate ease to put them back in contention to qualify from the Midlands Group.

The hosts were rampant with the ball, reducing their visitors to 13-5 inside five overs after an incredible spell in which four wickets fell for one run in the space of nine deliveries.

Arafat had removed Warwickshire's top three by the end of the fourth over, at which stage the Bears were 13-3, a situation which became even worse when Alfonso Thomas struck twice in the nest over.

Warwickshire's first boundary arrived in the eighth over, as Rikki Clarke (28) and Darren Maddy (20) set about restoring some pride. They added 48 in nine overs before Maddy was held by Jos Buttler at deep backward square leg off Steve Kirby.

In the 15th over, Steffan Piolet edged Craig Meschede behind for a golden duck, while Clarke holed out to Pete Trego at long-on as Warwickshire crumbled to 64-8.

Jeetan Patel (5) was bowled by a Max Waller googly and Boyd Rankin edged Arafat behind to the final ball of the 17th over as Warwickshire were dismissed for 73.

Somerset reached their target in just 8.3 overs - with all of their wickets intact - as Craig Kieswetter scored 39 from 27 balls and Chris Jones added 30 from 26.

To sum up Warwickshire's woe on a dismal day for them, victory was sealed when Piolet sent down six no balls, the delivery flying over the head of wicketkeeper Peter McKay and running to the boundary.
