Day 2 of 2
Scotland win by 4 wickets (D/L Method)

Scotland vs Kenya

Rob Taylor helps Scotland claim narrow ODI victory over Kenya

Rob Taylor: Starred with bat and ball for Scotland

Kyle Coetzer: Top-scored for Scotland with 57

Rob Taylor was the hero as Scotland boosted their World Cup qualification hopes with a four-wicket victory via the Duckworth-Lewis method against Kenya in Aberdeen.

The Scots reached their revised target of 139 runs with eight balls to spare on Wednesday in a rain-hit match after bowling the Kenyans out for 183 the previous day.

Captain Kyle Coetzer hit a half-century after Scotland resumed on 22 without loss but three quick wickets gave Kenya hope before the second rain delay of the game.

Matt Machan was run out for 20 in the 21st over to leave Scotland on 84-2 and Coetzer (57) and Calum MacLeod (11) were both bowled out by Nehemia Odhiambo with balls that failed to bounce up on the heavy wicket.

Rain forced the players off with Scotland at 106-4 and play did not resume until more than 90 minutes later with the hosts now needing 33 runs from 40 balls.

Preston Mommsen was caught behind for five as the tourists threatened an upset but Taylor steadied the nerves of the home crowd at Mannofield when he struck a four and a six in the space of three balls on his way to a total of 16 off eight balls before being caught out.

But the Leicestershire all-rounder, who took three wickets on the first day of play, had put Scotland firmly on the right track and David Murphy's sole run saw them over the line in the next over.

The victory, which followed a 12-run win over Kenya on Sunday, moved Scotland above Holland into second place in the table with the top two countries assured of a place at the 2015 World Cup. Holland and leaders Ireland meet twice in the coming week.

Scotland now host Kenya in two T20 matches in the next two days before a four-day Intercontinental Cup match begins on Sunday.
