Pakistan vs S Africa
Man of the Match
Dale Steyn's bowling ended a promising fightback from Pakistan, and he has been named the Man of the Match despite Quinton de Kock's heroics with the bat.
South Africa win by 28 runs
So South Africa have won this match, and have also taken an unbeatable 3-1 lead with just one match to go. Quinton de Kock set them up with a maiden international 100, the youngest ODI centurion for his country, with good support from Amla and de Villiers. Duminy and McLaren did just enough at the end to make sure their team was out of reach. Maqsood batted impressively on debut for Pakistan, while the veteran Misbah hit some telling shots on his way to 65. At 228 for 5 the game was in the balance, but Steyn came back for his final spell and took three wickets in an over, and the rest is history as the last five wickets fell for just ten runs.
Over 49.2 Pak 238 all out
WICKET! Junaid Khan b McLaren 4 (8). McLaren fires in the yorker and it's all over. Mohammad Irfan not out 2 (3). Steyn 5/25, Tsotsobe 1/39, Morkel 0/44, McLaren 1/59, Tahir 1/51, Duminy 0/9
Over 49 - Pak 237/9 - Irfan 1 (2) Junaid 4 (7)
Junaid Khan gives Steyn every opportunity to take a sixth wicket, exposing his stumps at every turn, but Steyn will have to settle for 5-25. That is a career best performance for him.
Over 48 - Pak 235/9 Irfan 0 (1) Junaid 3 (2)
WICKET! Shahid Afridi run out (du Plessis) 3 (5). Direct hit from backward point and the crowd streams away, this match is all but over.
Over 47 - Pak 231/8 - Afridi 1 (1)
WICKET! Umar Akmal c Morkel b Steyn 22 (23). Steyn comes back and Akmal flings the bat at it. The thick outside edge would have gone all the way, but the tall Morkel is at 3rd man and grabs it high above his head. WICKET! Misbah-ul-Haq c de Villiers b Steyn 65 (76). Misbah goes on the pull, but hasn't got all of it and easily swallowed at deep mid wicket by the skipper. WICKET! Saeed Ajmal b Steyn 0 (1). Three wickets in an over have surely settled this game as Ajmal looks to pull a length ball and it hits the top of off stump.
Over 46 - Pak 228/5 - Misbah 64 (74) Akmal 22 (22)
Misbah has reached 1 100 ODI runs this year, going ahead of George Bailey to be the leading scorer. The bad news is that Morkel has bowled a superb over, conceding just two singles. It might have been one if de Villiers had hit with a shy at the stumps.
Over 45 - Pak 226/5 - Misbah 63 (73) Akmal 21 (17)
Tsotsobe comes back for his final over and mixes up his pace nicely. Just four singles as the pressure starts to mounto on the batsmen again.
Over 44 - Pak 222/5 - Misbah 61 (71) Akmal 19 (14)
Pakistan scampering the singles, but a boundary over point will help the cause no end. Fortunately for Akmal the bat turned in his hand as he played it and so it beat the boundary fielder.
Over 43 - Pak 213/5 - Misbah 59 (69) Akmal 12 (9)
Tahir returns to the attack and it's not the greatest of overs, but the field is well set and SA will be happy to see just 4 singles accruing.
Over 42 - Pak 209/5 - Misbah 57 (65) Akmal 10 (7)
Umar Akmal ends the over with a cracking cover drive.
Over 41 - Pak 201/5 - Misbah 55 (62) Akmal 4 (4)
Good running between the wickets as Pakistan pass 200.
Over 40 - Pak 195/5 - Misbah 52 (59) Akmal 1 (1)
Misbah is brutal with McLaren in the final over of the PowerPlay, pulling short ball for 4 and then a lovely lofted drive for 6 to bring up his 50 off 59 balls. 14 in that over.
Over 39 - Pak 181/5 - Misbah 40 (54) Akmal 0 (0)
WICKET! Sohail Tanvir c Amla b Steyn 1 (5). Tanvir on the pull, but it's a top edge and Amla pouches it safely.
Over 38 - Pak 176/4 - Misbah 36 (50) Tanvir 1 (3)
Good over from Morkel, beating the bat a few times and just 2 runs. The PowerPlay has turned sour for Pakistan.
Over 37 - Pak 174/4 - Misbah 35 (47) Tanvir 0 (0)
WICKET! Sohaib Maqsood c de Villiers b Steyn 56 (54). Steyn has that extra something and induces the false shot. De Villiers has to backpedal a long way but takes the catch at deep mid off. A surprise as Sohall Tanvir walks in to bat.
Over 36 - Pak 173/3 - Maqsood 56 (51) Misbah 34 (44)
FIFTY! Maqsood becomes the seventh Pakistan to score 50 on ODI debut. A lovely flick to bring up the landmark is followed by a booming lofted off drive as the first over of the Power Play yields ten runs.
Over 35 - Pak 163/3 - Maqsood 47 (46) Misbah 33 (43)
Imran Tahir sneaks in an over before the PowerPlay, but goes for ten. Six of them came in one blow as he gives Maqsood a freebie halfway down the track and it disappears over mid wicket.
Over 34 - Pak 153/3 - Maqsood 39 (42) Misbah 32 (41)
Tidy over by McLaren despite a thigh high full toss that took Maqsood by surprise.
Over 33 - Pak 150/3 - Maqsood 37 (38) Misbah 30 (39)
Duminy comes back and the batsman show more of an inclination to get after him. Time for drinks now, with Pakistan needing to score another 117 off 102 balls.
