Pakistan vs S Africa

ICC Champions Trophy: Pakistan beat South Africa in warm-up

Asad Ali (C): Took three wickets during South Africa's innings

Imran Farhat (R): Was the top scorer in the match with 56

South Africa's preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy took a turn for the worse as they slumped to a six-wicket defeat to Pakistan at the Oval.

South Africa stuttered to 202-9 all out in a a 15-a-side clash which allowed different batting and bowling XIs, with Pakistan chasing down that target with more than four overs to spare.

Pakistan chose to bowl first and were quickly among the wickets as Junaid Khan dismissed Hashim Amla for a duck with the third ball of the day.

The Proteas' top order continued to struggle against the new balls and when Faf du Plessis (7) was sixth man out they had just 61 runs on the board.

But with the rules allowing more specialist batsmen to take to the crease they staged a recovery via a 94-run stand between JP Duminy and Ryan McClaren.

That helped the total past 200 before McLaren was bowled by Asad Ali for 55, with Duminy making 43 before being dismissed. Ali and Wahab Riaz each returned 3- 30.

Pakistan came out aggressively, Nasir Jamshed hitting a six and a four prior to being run out but Farhat carried on to make 56 before becoming the first of two Lonwabo Tsotsobe wickets.

Mohammad Hafeez retired after scoring 54, leaving Misbah (24 not out) and Umar Amin (27no) to finish the job, the former hitting a six off the final ball.

Dale Steyn was given only five overs and appeared to struggle with an injury, which could be a worry as South Africa contest the tournament curtain-raiser with India on Thursday.
