Pakistan vs S Africa
The inexperienced South African bowling attack, missing both Steyn and Morkel, has fought hard today and won them this match after the batsmen collapsed from a prosition of power. The batting woes of Pakistan continue as they will now need results in the group to go their way if they have any hope of featuring in the latter stages of the tournament. It will be a huge confidence boost for South Africa, as their bowlers came in for criticism after defeat to India. The 67 run margin of victory will also give the net run rate a very healthy look. South Africa's destiny is now firmly in their own hands.
Over 45 - Pak 167 all out (Irfan 0, Junaid 4)
WICKET. McLaren takes a wicket off his first ball back into the attack. Ajmal backed away, swung hard, and looped a simple catch to mid-on. WICKET. Junaid is clean bowled swinging across the line. Mclaren completes a double wicket maiden to add to his impressive figures today.
Over 44 - Pak 167/8 (Ajmal 5, Junaid 4)
The Pakistan tail-enders are literally going down swinging. It only yields four runs off the over however, as the inevitable is delayed, for now.
Over 43 - Pak 163/8 (Ajmal 4, Junaid 1)
A poor piece of fielding by Tsotsobe gifts four runs to Riaz and will anger the bowler, as Phangiso is picked up for another boundary. WICKET. Riaz takes ones chance too many and is bowled by a quicker delivery while trying to play a reverse sweep. Junaid makes his way out to the middle to join what has become a rather hopeless cause.
Over 42 - Pak 152/7 (Ajmal 4, Riaz 3)
With the 20 required overs bowled by the three spinners, Tsotsobe is brought back into the attack. He is rolling his finger across almost every ball, hoping to get some deviation off the wicket. WICKET. The big fish is gone, and with him, probably the chances of Pakistan. He swung across the line of another cutter, but picked out mid-wicket on the edge or the circle. As Ajmal walks to the wicket, a great deal of the Pakistan supporters are walking out of the stadium. That pretty much sums up the stage of affairs.
Over 41 - Pak 147/6 (Misbah 55, Riaz 2)
Phangiso makes a return to the attack. The two batsmen are eager to take singles, but the comunication is lacking. a run out looks to be on the cards. Six off the over continues to keep the pressure on the batsmen.
Over 40 - Pak 141/6 (Misbah 52, Riaz 0)
Misbah hits Peterson's first ball back straight down the ground for a mighty six to bring up his 50. Peterson recovers well as he bowls a string of dots to Riaz.
Over 39 - Pak 134/6 (Misbah 45, Riaz 0)
WICKET. Amin backs away again but only finds the top edge. Ingram takes the pressure catch comfortably. Akmal is the new man for Pakistan. He is a dangerous player and is suited to this situation. McLaren strays in line and it tickled past short fine-leg to pick up another four runs. WICKET. Akmal slahes the last ball of the powerplay and is brilliantly caught at point. That could be the difference between the two teams. Amla was dropped early to a similar chance and he went on to score 81 valuable runs.
Over 38 - Pak 128/4 (Misbah 39, Amin 16)
Amin backs away and swings Morris down the ground for a welcome boundary. The Pakistan charge may have just started. The bowler does well to contain for the rest of the over and the 7 runs conceded are still before the asking rate.
Over 37 - Pak 121/4 (Misbah 37, Amin 11)
Misbah gives himself room, but McLaren follows him and earns a dot ball. Some good urgency in the running turns one into two runs. Four runs come off the over, which continues to push the required rate up.
Over 36 - Pak 117/4 (Misbah 34, Amin 10)
Morris comes back into the attack to share the responsibility of bowling in the powerplay. A stray delivery goes for four leg-byes. A quick single is taken, but had there been a direct hit, Amin would be back in the hut. Misbah shows some intent at last and launches a four down the ground.
Over 35 - Pak 108/4 (Misbah 30, Amin 9)
The batting powerplay is called one over early. Ryan McLaren comes back into the attack. Misbah blocks the first three balls of the over before taking a single. It may be up to the youngster to take a risk in the powerplay.
Over 34 - Pak 106/4 (Misbah 29, Amin 8)
Duminy continues and will look for a wicket just before the batting powerplay. The spinners have done a great job of pushing up the required run rate, but haven't looked threatening in term of taking wickets.
Over 33 - Pak 102/4 (Misbah 26, Amin 7)
Duminy does some great fielding on the boundary to back up his fellow spinner, Phangiso. The resulting two runs brings up the 100 for Pakistan.
Over 32 - Pak 98/4 (Misbah 23, Amin 6)
Duminy is giving the ball a lot of air and Amin looks very nervous in the manner that he is trying to work the ball around.
Over 31 - Pak 95/4 (Misbah 21,Amin 5)
Amin gets another edge which hits the thigh of keeper de Villiers. It must go down as a half chance, but you would not expect it to be taken. Misbah is showing no signs of panic as he just plods along.
Over 30 - Pak 93/4 (Misbah 20,Amin 4)
Tsotsobe takes a break after his wicket. Duminy replaces him and will look to squeeze the new left-handed batsman. A very tight over will place even more pressure on the new man at the crease.
Over 29 - Pak 91/4 (Misbah 19,Amin 3)
Phangiso finds the edge of the new man's bat, but Amin will take the three runs and be grateful that he is off the mark. Five runs come off the over as the required rate slowly increases.
Over 28 - Pak 86/4 (Misbah 17,Amin 0)
WICKET. Jamshed tries to drive but the ball holds in the pitch and takes the inside of the bat. It goes straight back down the wicket and Tsotsobe takes the caught and bowled. This is the breakthrough that South Africa were looking for as it should put a break on the scoring rate which was just starting to rise.
Over 27 - Pak 84/3 (Misbah 17, Jamshed 40)
In another change, phangiso is back into the attack. de Villiers anticipates a Misbah reverse sweep and fields it at a wide slip position. Another wide at the end of the over lets down what could have been a great return for the spinner.
