Pakistan vs S Africa
Pakistan Win By One Wicket
Razzaq finished what Afridi and Alam started and the Proteas have really tossed away what should have been an easy win. Albie Morkel and Langeveldt bowled pie after pie and I'm left to question what Botha was thinking in giving the former the final over of the match. Poor leadership. Smith would've done better.
Over 49.5 A Morkel 0-6-6-0-4
289-9 - Morkel screams a yorker through Razzaq's legs but then concedes back-to-back sixes over midwicket. Then, Razzaq screams in celebration as the winning runs fly through point.
Over 49 Langeveldt 6-0-0-4-1-0
273-9 - 'Langers' quickly losing this match for his side, as Razzaq slaps a poor length down the ground for six more. The big-hitter, meanwhile, is refusing to take any singles. He wants to do this on his own, dealing exclusively in boundaries. Then, four more plundered across midwicket aids his cause. Pakistan need 14 runs to win from 6 balls.
Over 48 A Morkel 0-1-0-1nb,W-4-0-1
262-9 - Wicket! Comedy of errors all around as Albie oversteps, Ajmal doesn't realise that the freebie is forthcoming, looks to return Razzaq to the strike and runs himself out in the process. Last man in for Pakistan is Akhtar. Pakistan need 25 runs to win from 12 balls.
Over 47 Langeveldt 6-0-6-2-6-W
254-8 - Some poor length from the seamer sits up and affords Razzaq the chance to free his arms for a fast, flat six. 'Langers' then overpitches, which Razzaq sails over Cow Corner for six more. The slower ball doesn't work either, as the poor seamer fetches another six as straight as an arrow down the ground. Wicket! Riaz, meanwhile, runs himself out at the hands of the medium-pacer's sharp fielding and subsequent direct-hit off his own bowling. Ajmal in now.
Over 46 Tsotsobe 1-0-0-0-0-0
234-7 - De Villiers is not sure if Riaz's edge has gone straight into the gloves or not or touched the grass just before. So, the third umpire comes into play and decides Riaz gets to stay. There was certainly doubt, so the benefit thereof goes to the batsman. Razzaq not being allowed enough strike here as Pakistan start to circle the drain.
Over 45 M Morkel W-0-0-0-4-1
233-7 - Wicket! Haider runs himself out to a suicidal single to short mid-on, where Peterson swoops in to orchestrate a nifty direct-hit at the non-striker's end. Riaz in now, watching from the other end as Razzaq milks four through backward point. So ends Morne's 10 overs for the day.
Over 44 Tsotsobe 2-0-0-0-0-1-4
228-6 - After wasting far too many dot balls, Haider eventually steals his way off strike to allow Razzaq to plunder four through cover.
Over 43 M Morkel 0-0-1-1-0-0
221-6 - Mid-batting Powerplay, Morkel sends down a cool, calm and collected over that concedes a mere two singles.
Over 42 Langeveldt 0-1-4-1-W-2
219-6 - Wicket! 'Langers' returns to the attack to claim his 100th ODI scalp as Alam falls short of a 50 in holing out to extra cover. Haider in now, whose primary role will be to feed Razzaq as much strike as possible.
Over 41 Botha 4-0-0-0-1-6
211-5 - Pakistan opt for the batting Powerplay as spin returns to the attack. Alam gets straight to work, cranking four down the ground, while Razzaq does better for six over square-leg.
Over 40 Tsotsobe 1nb-6-1-1wd-2-0-1-0
200-5 - The southpaw seamer returns from over the wicket and picks up six straightaway as Razzaq heaves a free-hit into the crowd beyond the midwicket ropes. Collective double-ton up for Pakistan, who remain in this contest.
Over 39 M Morkel 1-0-0-1lb-1-1
188-5 - Three singles and a token leg-bye tide Pakistan over. Half-century partnership arrives. They'd do well to call for the batting Powerplay now before one of Alam or Razzaq gets out and the all too pedestrian Haider comes to the crease.
Over 38 A Morkel 1-0-1-1-0-6
184-5 - Albie looks set to fetch a cheap over until, that is, he banks in a lame short ball for Razzaq to heave over midwicket for six.
Over 37 M Morkel 1wd-0-1-1wd-0-0-0-0
175-5 - Morne doesn't do much better than his brother, offering a couple of wides and a host of tame fodder outside Razzaq's off-stump.
Over 36 A Morkel 1-1-1-0-4-1
172-5 - Morkel returns to the attack now, and picks up on the expense he coughed up in his opening spell. Alam happy to crank a rather forecast slower ball through mid-off for four.
Over 35 Botha 1-0-1wd-1-1-1-0
164-5 - Botha would do well to slip Albie in for a couple of overs in the hope that the seamer can redeem himself with a bit of economy. Not yet though, as the spinner keeps himself going.
Over 34 Peterson 6-0-0-0-0-4
159-5 - Peterson sails for a flat, straight six courtesy Razzaq, who then survives a close stumping chance. Cashing in on his lifeline, the all-rounder then smears four through cover to add a bit of momentum the way of the 'hosts'.
Over 33 Botha 0-0-1-1-1-4
149-5 - Tough to see what Pakistan's thinking is here. Perhaps they've just decided to see of the spinners and take to the seamers when they return to the attack. Alam, at least, kicks in a bit of mometum with a rare four clubbed over midwicket. Drinks break.
Over 32 Peterson 0-1-0-0-1-1
142-5 - Alam really diggin himself into a big hole here, far too circumspect for the asking rate, which now sits above eight to the over. Razzaq, batting Powerplay in hand, is going to have to tee off quite soon.
