Pakistan vs S Africa
Pakistan win by one wicket
Another thriller in Dubai and this time Pakistan come out on top. South Africa posted a respectable 274 for six and looked confident of defending it. They got some wickets early on but Younis Khan kept Pakistan in the game with 73. The hosts once again lost wickets, but their lower order made the difference in the end to see them home by one wicket with one ball left. Wow! I'm out of breath. It's been a fantastic day in the world of cricket with India-NZ and Aus-Sri Lanka also squaring off. Thank you for your company today and do join us again tomorrow for day three of the opening Test between India and New Zealand.
Over 50 Parnell 0-1-W-2-1
275-9 - Pakistan need just four runs from the last six balls. Wayne Parnell will bowl the final over. He has been disappointing with the ball tonight. Riaz is on strike and Parnell starts with a dot ball. Full again and it goes to long-on for one. WICKET! Another full one and Haider digs it out. Riaz wants the single, but he gets sent back. Parnell picks up the ball and decides to run back to the stumps to whip the bails off. Shoaib Akhtar is the last man in. Haider gets two to tie the scores. It's just wide of mid-on and there's not two in there, but the return is poor from Botha and they get the second. Haider is on strike with Pakistan needing one from two balls. Everyone in the circle. Parnell is on the hips and Haider works it wide of short fine leg for one. Pakistan win and the series is squared.
Over 49 M Morkel 4-1-1-3-2-0
271-8 - What a shot! Short from Morne Morkel and clubbered down to the deep midwicket fence for four. Pakistan now need 11 from 11. Goes for another big shot, but this time it goes to midwicket for one. Riaz goes over extra cover this time and it's three. Chaos out in the middle. Haider wants a single, but it's not there. Riaz has to get back and Morkel has a shy at the stumps, but misses. The ball goes wide of the stumps and they take two overthrows.
Over 48 Steyn 4-1-4-0-3-0
260-8 - Steyn continues and strays onto the pads. Haider helps it wide of short fine leg for a boundary. He then gets one to third man. Riaz gets in on the act as he also helps it wide of short fine leg for four. Riaz gives himself room to smash it through cover for three. There was a run-out chance at the non-striker's end, but Steyn decides to throw the ball to the keeper. Steyn finishes with one for 79 in his 10. Not a happy return.
Over 47 M Morkel W-1-0-1-1-1
248-8 - WICKET! Morkel gets the big fish. Slightly wide and Razzaq goes after it. He gets an edge to the keeper. The South Africans can't contain their joy. Wahab Riaz is not a bad batsmen and he's away with one to third man. That one climbed on him a little. You can see the pressure is off the South Africans with Razzaq gone. Dropped! Riaz pulls it and it goes high in the air. Smith runs from square leg, but he drops it.
Over 46 Steyn 0-1-0-2-4-1
244-7 - Dale Steyn is back into the attack as the umpire signals for the batting Powerplay. It's fun and games time. Good start from Steyn. One climbs on Haider. He doesn't know where the ball is, but Razzaq calls him through for the single. The fielder misses the stumps anyway. Razzaq gives himself room and it goes over the stumps. WICKET! Razzaq gives himself room again and looks to pull. He gets a top edge and it flies over the keeper's head. Morkel runs back from short fine, but he can't get there. Great bowling, but it goes for four. Steyn follows Razzaq again and he gets a thick edge that flies wide of the keeper. Razzaq keeps the strike after Steyn fumbles one that's hit down the track.
Over 45 Kallis 0-2-1-1-1-1
235-7 - Pakistan will keep their batting Powerplay for the final five overs. The required run rate is 7.5 to the over as Kallis returns. Short and pulled over midwicket for a couple by Razzaq. Haider and Razzaq make solid contact with the ball a couple of times, but it's straight to the man on the cover boundary.
Over 44 Parnell 4-1-1-1-2-0
230-7 - Wayne Parnell is back. He still has three overs left. His first ball just sits up and Razzaq flicks it down to fine leg for four. The pressure is off for now and they can take a few singles. Haider gets it wide of backward point and gets a couple.
Over 43 M Morkel W-0-W-0-wd-0-0
221-7 - WICKET Morne Morkel returns to the bowling crease and immediately does the job for his captain as he picks up the big wicket of Younis Khan. The Pakistan veteran looks to go for drive, but he gets an inside edge onto his stumps. Abdur Rehman is the new batsman. Just bowlers left, but who needs them when you still have Razzaq at the crease. WICKET! Rehman lasts just two balls. The first one nearly yields a run out as he wants to take a single to the bowler. Razzaq returns to the non-striker's end in time. His luck runs out second ball as there was never a single to mid-on. Kallis is all over the ball and returns it to de Villiers. The keeper takes a second or two to whip the bails off, but Rehman has too much ground to make up after being sent back. Zulqarnain Haider is the new man in and he has flash at a wide one.
Over 42 Duminy 1-2-1-0-1-1
220-5 - This one is still too close to call. Smith decides not to squeeze another over out of Duminy and brings back Steyn. Razzaq takes one to fine leg while Younis works it to deep backward square leg and comes back for a second. The crowd appreciated that. Run-out chance missed! Razzaq pulls it to midwicket and Duminy picks it up and returns it to the bowler. Steyn can't hold on and misses the run-out chance. They take an overthrow as well.
Over 41 Kallis 0-1-1-1-0-0
214-5 - No one-over spell for Kallis. Smith still has to figure out who will bowl the final over. Ooh nearly a wicket for South Africa as Razzaq chips it down the ground. It's well wide of midwicket though. Another excellent over from Kallis.
Over 40 Duminy 1-1-1-1-2-0
211-5 - Younis and Razzaq are not ready to take any risks yet and they are happy to take the singles mostly. Younis plays through extra cover immediately calls for two. Two it is.
Over 39 Kallis 1-1-0-0-1-0
205-5 - Play gets held up as the ground staff uses a rope to get the dew off the grass. Kallis comes back. Steyn and Parnell have both had one-over spells. Short ball from Kallis and Razzaq pulls. He skies it, but it falls in no-man's land at midwicket.
Over 38 Duminy 1-1-0-1-0-0
202-5 - A late, late introduction into the attack for JP Duminy. Pakistan's 200 comes up with one down the ground. They continue to milk the singles after that.
Over 37 Parnell 0-2-1-4-1-wd-wd-0
199-5 - Parnell returns and Smith has a slip in place for Razzaq. The right-hander works it to square leg for one, but the fielder hits the stumps and they take a second. Younis gets his first boundary of the day and what a shot! He lofts it with a straight bat over mid-off for four. Parnell loses it bowls a couple of wides down leg-side.
Over 36 Steyn 1-2-0-2-0-0
189-5 - Dale Steyn returns. He's been on the extensive side today. Razzaq takes a risky one to cover. Younis has to get the dive in, but the South Africans again fail to hit the stumps. Younis gets it fine for a couple. Two more to Younis, this time to deep square leg.
Over 35 M Morkel 0-1-0-1lb-wd-1-2
184-5 - The run rate has climbed to over six to the over. That's mainly down to Morkel's excellent bowling and brilliant work in the field. Pakistan pick up a couple of singles and extras. The final ball yields two down to deep backward point.
Over 34 Botha 0-nb-1-0-0-1-0
178-5 - This is Johan Botha's final over. The spinner oversteps and there's a big cheer from the fans as it's a free-hit. Botha fires it in and they can only get a single down the ground. Razzaq takes a quick one to short fine.
Over 33 M Morkel 0-0-0-0-0-1
175-5 - Younis is one away from his half-century. His 49 has been boundary-less. Excellent stuff. The South Africans are keeping the pressure on him as they step the fielding and bowling up. Younis takes six balls to get a single into the covers. That's 50 off 83b.
Over 32 Botha 1-W-1-0-1-1
174-5 - Younis Khan takes one to square leg. WICKET! Afridi loses his mind again. He's down the track and looking to go out of the park. He gets a top edge though and Parnell runs in from long-off to take the catch. We've seen this so many times. Pakistan's hero in the second ODI Abdul Razzaq is the new man. Younis continues to accumulate the singles. Razzaq is away with one into the covers.
