Wimbledon CC celebrate their T20 victory at Edgbaston

Neil Turk led from the front with bat and ball for the Surrey side

Wimbledon CC produced a commanding all-round performance to defeat Northern CC by seven wickets and claim the ECB National Club T20 title at Edgbaston.

The Surrey Championship side proved far too strong for their opponents from Merseyside, who were dismissed for just 90 in the final after winning the toss.

Wimbledon skipper Neil Turk, once on the books of Sussex, turned in a man-of-the-match display in the final with 2-8 from four overs, building on Darren Hooey's three-wicket haul, and then struck 30 at the top of the order to help Wimbledon to their modest target with 22 balls to spare.

Northern's hopes of victory were undermined by a collapse that saw six batsmen fall for 19 runs.

Earlier in the day, Stephen Lucas and Walling struck half-centuries to help Northern defeat Chester-le-Street by 11 runs in the opening semi-final.

Impressive

Lucas smashed 61 off 59 deliveries and Walling contributed a 37-ball 52 to an opening stand of 108 that set the foundation for their side to post a healthy 157-4.

Chester-le-Street were never up with the run rate and, after Lancashire second XI bowler Bailey claimed two wickets and a run out in the 17th over, they were restricted to 146-8.

Franke-Matthecka took four wickets in as many overs as Wimbledon eased into the final with a 17-run win over Nottinghamshire-based Cuckney.

After slipping to 432-, Grace and Penford struck 68 and 61 not out in a third-wicket stand of 108 to lift Wimbledon to a commanding 161-4.

Although Nick Langford struck a trio of fours and as many sixes in a 39-ball 55, Franke-Matthecka returned impressive figures of 4-19 to help dismiss Cuckney for 144.
