New Zealand vs Sri Lanka
New Zealand win by 1 wicket
A score of 138 was not enough in the end but SL did well trying to defend it. New Zealand kept losing wickets but got over the line with one wicket to spare. They go to the top of the table with a healthy net run rate.
Over 36.3 NZ 140/9 (McClenaghan 1, Southee 13)
Malinga ends with 10 overs, 4 wickets for 34 runs, very good figures under the circumstances. A single to McClenaghan brings Southee on strike. Another single Southee trusting McClenaghan. McClenaghan takes a couple and the umpire calls it wide. It was a tight second run but Sanga misses the stumps. What a game! NZ win in the end, almost make a mess of it. Good comeback from SL after their batting failed.
Over 36 NZ 135/9 (McClenaghan 0, Southee 12)
The batting power play is enforced, will this change anything? A wide from Malinga, and just the wide from the over. Southee plays him out.
Over 35 NZ 134/9 (McClenaghan, Southee 12)
Eranga brought back after Herath. NZ will look to score some runs of this over before the next Malinga over. WICKET! Perera tries to hit the non-striker's end and misses but hits the striker's end and Mills is short of his ground. Strange wicket, SL will take them any way they come. Mills did not expect that. NZ need 5 runs, SL need 1 wicket.
Over 34 NZ 132/8 (Mills 2, Southee 11)
Malinga searching for his 5th wicket and NZ need 12 wickets to win. Four lucky runs for Southee and a big shout for lbw, the umpire gives it as runs. But replays show that would have been out. It is all happening here. Lucky escape for Southee. NZ need 7 more to win, with a power play soon to come. Great over by Malinga.
Over 33 NZ 127/8 (Mills 2, Southee 6)
A conference between Matthews, Mahela and Dilshan about who will bowl the next over. Herath it is to bowl his last over. A single to Southee from the first ball. Another quick single for the Kiwis. Another single, driven through the leg side. 12 needed to win for NZ.

Southee takes a single off his pads. Nathan plays a brave drive, it was in the air but through the covers for a couple. Nathan tries to drill that through cover, just to get a single, good fielding by SL. A couple more to end the over, seven runs in total and a good over for NZ.
Over 30 NZ 115/7 (N McCullum 28)
Malinga back into the attack, looking to pick up a wicket or two. Brendon drives it straight past the bowler for a single. Another single as Nathan nicely works this on to the leg side. The McCullum brothers are running very well in between the wickets, pinching singles and making them comfortably. WICKET! Malinga runs through Brendon McCullum, the slower ball doing the trick again. Brendon was early into the shot and is bowled. NZ lose their 7th wicket for 115 and need 24 more runs to win.

Perera into the attack, and just a couple from his over.
Over 28 NZ 108/6 (N McCullum 24, B McCullum 15)
The field is spread out now so chances of singles and twos. Sangakkara appeals for a caught behind but the umpire gives it not out, the keeper for sure but the bowler was not. Nathan drives it nicely for four through the covers adding insult to injury. Good shot against Eranga. Another great shot from Nathan under pressure, pulls a short ball to the boundary. New Zealand need 30 more.
Over 27 NZ 99/6 (N McCullum 16, B McCullum 14)
Thisara Perera introduced into the attack and gets some movement off the pitch straight away. A risky shot through point by Nathan McCullum and good fielding from Eranga gets NZ a couple of runs.
Over 26 NZ 97/6 (N McCullum 14, B McCullum 14)
Eranga is brought back into the attack. A single as Dilshan makes a smart stop at point. Three from the over in the end, a quick single turned into two because of a misfield.
Over 25 NZ 94/6 (N McCullum 13, B McCullum 12)
Excessive appealing from Sri Lanka, they have been warned already. Dilshan operates from the other end. Just one run from the over.
Over 24 NZ 93/6 (N McCullum 12, B McCullum 12)
Nathan plays it on the up and gets it into the gap for four on the leg side. Target under 50 runs for the Kiwis. A futile appeal from Sri Lanka. Five from the over.

Over 21 NZ 82/6 (N McCullum 1, B McCullum 12)
Nathan McCullum comes out to bat, Dilshan to continue. Nathan McCullum is hit on the pads and Dilshan appeals and appeals without any luck. Umpire gives it not out. Just two from the over, NZ need 57 more.
Over 20 NZ 80/6 (McCullum 11)
Malinga comes back into the attack, Matthews looking to attack and mix seam and spin. Malinga has 5 overs to go. A good yorker and Vettori plays it well for a single. McCullum goes for the quick single and makes it comfortably, Dilshan was the fielder but he misses the stumps. A wide called, the ball drifted down leg. Every run is important and every stop in the field is being cheered by the crowd. WICKET! Malinga picks up a wicket with a slow yorker, Vettori got an inside edge today but umpire gives it out. NZ does not have a review left so Vettori goes.
Over 19 NZ 77/5 (Vettori 4, McCullum 10)
Dilshan to continue, he is proving to be a good bowler. Another shout for lbw but it was clearly going down leg. At the end of the 19th over NZ are 77 for 5.
