Winning farewell for Warne

Legendary spinner takes wicket in last over before retirement

Warne: Set for retirement

Shane Warne took a wicket in his last ever over as Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 10 wickets in the Australian's final match before retirement.

The Royals went into their final group game with no chance of qualifying for the Indian Premier League play-offs and salvaged some pride with an emphatic victory in Mumbai.

Shane Watson inspired the victory by taking 3-19 with the ball before smashing 89 in just 47 balls as the Royals easily chased down their target of 134.

Mumbai had atruggled to 133 thanks to skipper Sachin Tendulkar (31) and Rohit Sharma (58), but Watson's explosive knock alongside fellow opener Rahul Dravid (43) saw the visitors home with just under seven overs to spare.

"I'm 42 this year, I'm in a great place in life, both personally and the business point of view, I just want to thank everyone who supported me," Warne said after the match.

Mumbai opted to bat after winning the toss but they were soon on the back foot as Watson struck twice in his first two overs.

Tendulkar steadied the ship with a patient 31 - surviving two close lbw appeals - but was eventually dismissed off the bowling of Amit Singh.

Sharma prodded the total to 100 in 16.1 overs with Kieron Pollard (20) supporting him well before Watson accounted for the latter and Warne had Sharma stumped in the final over.

Watson was then quickly on the attack with the bat, capitalising on some loose bowling from Mumbai to power Rajasthan to 52 in just six overs while Dravid took longer to get going.

Star Mumbai bowler Lasith Malinga was not spared as he went wicketless for 42 in his four overs, with Watson reaching 50 in 30 balls and Dravid eventually contributing some runs of his own.

It was the Australian, though, who was the undoubted star, finisheing with nine fours and six sixes, before Dravid sealed the win by hitting James Franklin for four.
